58, of Roxbury, MA, entered into eternal rest after a long illness. Born on the Island of Brava, Cape Verde Islands, she was the daughter of the late Adaberto Gonsalves and Matilda Mendes. For over 35 years she was the longtime companion of Jose B. Pires, who lovingly cared for her until her death. Coming from Cape Verde, she first settled in the City of Pawtucket and was employed as a machine operator for Conrad Jarvis, in Pawtucket for many years, later moving to Roxbury, Ma, where she resided until her death. She is survived by her three sisters Zilma Gomes, Eugenia Barros, and Autilia Gomes, and many nieces and nephews.
Her funeral will be on Saturday, April 14th at 8:30am from the Keefe Funeral Home, Five Higginson Ave., Lincoln, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Anthony Church, Lawn Avenue Pawtucket, at 10am. Burial in Mt. St. Mary Cemetery, 661 Prospect Street Pawtucket, R.I. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend calling hours at the Keefe Funeral Home, Five Higginson Avenue, Lincoln R.I. 02865 on Friday, April 13 from 5 to 8 pm.
